ROSS program appreciative of support
The 10th Annual Remember Our Serving Soldiers (R.O.S.S.) fund raising event was held March 9, 2013 At Arthur W Jones Post 7564 VFW. This event, which was first held in 2004, was the concept that Charlie Weible who was the Post Commander that year came up with. He wanted the VFW and Auxiliary to do something for the families of the Guard and Reserve units that were deployed overseas.
The first year we served pancakes and made a few hundred dollars to give the Family Support Groups. With this year we will have donated over $75,000 to the Family Readiness Groups of the nine Guard and Reserve Units that we support. This could not be done without the generous support of the individuals and companies who donate to our organization to make this event a huge success. We have a tremendous group of supporters who help us every year with money, items for the silent auction and gifts that are raffled off.
The volunteers who help create this event from conception to finish come from the Post , Auxiliary, the AmVets Post #8, the community and from all of the Guard and Reserve Units who benefit from this program. Thanks to all who participate and who support. We have a very dedicated group especially those who do the steak supper and those who maintain the silent auction and raffles. Thank you once again for all that everyone does to support the men and women who have dedicated their lives to the protection and support of this country and community.
