Rostads attend Kings Point Graduation
Mike and Vonnie Rostad of West Fargo attended the 74th Commencement Ceremony on June 21, at the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y. Their grandson, Braden Rostad of Fargo, graduated from the academy with a B.S. degree in Intermodel Transportation and Logistics.
The commencement address was delivered by Admiral Michael G. Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Ray LaHood, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation, also addressed the graduates.
Braden has accepted a commission to the United States Coast Guard. After attending Coast Guard orientation in New London, Conn., he will move to his permanent duty station in Galveston, Texas.
The United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point was established in 1943 to educate and graduate Merchant Marine officers and leaders to serve the maritime industry and armed forces and contribute to the economic, defense and homeland security interests of the United States.
