The school board must consider different school configurations in both fall 2014 and 2015 due to its fast-growing enrollment.

The Long Range Facility Planning and Boundary Committee, which was comprised of parents, staff, and community members met about seven times before offering three boundary change solutions to the school board on Monday night. The committee has recommended the school board address overcrowding in the schools south of Interstate 94 during the 2014-15 school year than use one of three scenarios as a temporary fix in 2015-2016.

The first scenario would be to do nothing. A “Scenario B” would require Aurora fifth graders to attend Liberty Middle School to make room for younger students. The committee said in a report to the school board that it preferred “Scenario C” which would move kindergarten students to Freedom Elementary for one year, and keep first graders at the Osgood Kindergarten Center.

The school board did not vote on the report Monday night. It will discuss boundary changes at its April 14 meeting.
