For the second consecutive year, senior Preston Lehmann and sophomore Jordan Shearer took home the top spot at the annual "Rumble on the Red" tournament at the Fargodome this past weekend.
The Packers as a team finished tied for first place out of 65 teams overall with Albert Lea, Minn., with 166.5 points. Because of this, the "Rumble" trophy will have to spend time at both schools over the next year.
Lehmann, who took home the title at 182 pounds last season, pinned Minneota's Isaac Josephson in 1 minute, 15 seconds in the championship match.
Shearer, last season's 113-pound Rumble champion, took the 120-pound title after a 10-4 decision victory over Jarred Oftedahl of Benilde St. Margaret's School in St. Louis Park, Minn.
The Packers, who are undefeated in the Eastern Dakota Conference, have a long hike ahead of them this weekend. They are traveling to Kaukuana, Wis., to participate in the Cheesehead Tournament, where they will face off against 27 teams from Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Oklahoma.
