Signe Hanson

March 1, 1920-Jan. 16, 2008

Signe V. Hanson, 87, of Audubon, died Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at St. Mary's Nursing Center in Detroit Lakes, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Signe was born to Ole and Thea (Elton) Moe on March 1, 1920 in Hamden Township. She attended school through the eighth grade, at District 34 Country School. On Feb. 29, 1944, she married LeRoy Hanson in Audubon. Together they made their home on a farm north of Audubon.

LeRoy passed away in the summer of 1975, and Signe continued to live on the family farm until becoming a resident of St. Mary's Nursing Center in 2004. She was an active member of the First Lutheran Church Women Quilters, Auxiliary VFW Post 6033, Sons of Norway, Christian Women's Club and a faithful prayer warrior. Her grandchildren were a special blessing to her.

Signe is survived by four sons, David (Sharon) Hanson of Dalton, Minn., John (Mary) Hanson of Audubon, Larry Hanson of Barnesville and Russell (LeAnn) Hanson of Detroit Lakes; one daughter, Signe Marie (Michael) Renshaw of Andover, Minn.; one brother, Elton Moe of Australia; eight grandchildren and one great grandson.

Preceding Signe in death were her husband LeRoy; parents, Ole and Thea; twin grandsons, Lonnie Roy and Daniel John Hanson; and two sisters, Orlean (Gerhardt) Erdmann and Thelma (Frank) Hemmer.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 19, at First Lutheran Church, Audubon.

The family would like to give special thanks St. Mary's Nursing Center and Hospice of the Red River Valley for their exceptional care.
