So far, so good: Conditions nearly perfect for seasonal celebration
Some times no snow and warmer temperatures can be a really good thing when it comes to winter outdoor activities.
It serves to beef up attendance because people are more receptive to spending time outdoors when they can bundle up enough to stay warm.
Hopefully, that will be the case for this year's Winter Days event that kicks off Friday and continues for over a week at both indoor and outdoor locations throughout West Fargo.
Even though forecasters are predicting a cool down from the recent high record breaking temperatures experienced locally, it will still be "warm" compared to subzero conditions Winter Days has been subjected too many years in the past, providing the perfect opportunity for everyone to be out and about and take in everything the event has to offer.
If you have never been a part of the diversity of Winter Days, you should really consider checking it out.
The snowflake search, where entrants can hunt and locate the little emblem and win great prizes was implemented a couple of years ago, providing a really nice extra incentive for interaction and fun.
In fact, it's an activity many Winter Days enthusiasts look forward to the challenge of.
Officials at the West Fargo Park District who sponsor and organize Winter Days say "the Silver Snowflake Search has been a nice addition to Winter Days , adding a competitive spirit to the event."
The goal of the Park District, as it has been every year since the inception of Winter Days, is to see as many people as possible turn out for the wide array of activities that they have whittled down to being most popular.
The end result should be sure not to disappoint, with different levels of events planned for all ages.
Saturday will be highlighted by an afternoon party at Cheney Middle School, filled with activities catering to the youth, a perfect way to spend a weekend afternoon filled with fun and entertainment.
Depending upon the arrival of any snowfall, the sleigh rides are still in jeopardy, but carriage rides may turn out to be a real possibility instead.
The concluding weekend of Winter Days will feature two of its most popular signature happenings - the nine-hole Snow Golf Tournament followed by plenty of action at the West Fargo VFW which will be the site of the traditional Chili Cook-off competition and the concluding Winter Days dance.
