The Packers soccer team continues to impress, as they shut out two lowest-seeded teams in the Eastern Dakota Conference last week, topping the Grand Forks-Red River Roughriders 8-0 on Tuesday before beating the Fargo North Spartans 4-0 on Thursday.
The Packers have now played eight straight games (7-0-1) without a loss and six straight games without giving up a goal.
In the Tuesday match against the Roughriders, the Packers got two goals within three minutes from forward Akeem Smith in the first half, and two goals within two minutes from forward Daniel Brown in the second half.
Other goals came from forwards Abdi Gedi and Zijad Karabegovic along with midfielders Cody Bickler and Salko Music.
The team's defense was solid as well against Red River, giving up just one shot on goal.
The Packers were led in Thursday's match by forward Lucas Miller, who had two goals and one assist. Brown had the other goal for the team. Assists came from Smith, as well as midfielders Randy Cernik and Jamie Hansen.
Junior goalkeeper Nathan Sample saved all five shots from the Bruins, who are winless in conference play, in Thursday's match.
The Packers are now 10-2-2 on the season and 7-1-1 in the EDC. Their 15 points ties them with Fargo Shanley for first in the conference.
They will head to Fargo North tomorrow night before playing in an away match against Shanley on Tuesday.
