Softball third in St. Paul tournament
The Packer softball team suffered its first loss of the season but still managed to finish third in the Polar Classic in North St. Paul over the weekend.
The team started the tournament with a 4-0 victory over Rosemount on Friday.
The next day, the Packers were crushed in a 15-4 loss to North St. Paul, but managed to top Eagan 3-0 in the afternoon third-place game.
Their first game saw a dominant performance from senior Brittany Rheault, who pitched seven scoreless innings and went 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored.
Senior Michaela Liebl led the team against North St. Paul, going 2-for-2 with an RBI.
Junior catcher Madison Nelson was the team’s top hitter against Eagan, hitting 2-for-3 with two runs batted in.In that game, Liebl hit her fourth home run of the season.The Packers (9-1, 6-0 in the EDC) head to Devils Lake on Friday for a doubleheader at 4:30 p.m.
