Students at Eastwood Elementary helped spread a little caring last week through their observance of a Kindness Week event. The project involved students participating in a Treats For The Troops collection, with the treats gathered sent to soldiers who have a connection to an Eastwood student or staff member.

The Eastwood Student Ambassadors, a group of fifth grade students, gathered Friday, Feb. 15, in the Eastwood Library to help pack up the treats. They were assisted by Librarian Heidi Wolf, Eastwood Counselor Joan Houdek, and Gen Shoman, Patti Tuff, Aggie Rieniets, Margie McClellan and Eleanor Detienne, of the West Fargo VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Everyone in the school was invited to participate in the program. A list of appropriate treats was sent home with the students. Several went shopping, and the end result was approximately 37 packages being boxed and prepared for shipping.

The VFW Auxiliaries of West Fargo and Grafton donated the money for the postage to send the packages overseas.
