Spring Business Expo successful draw
The 600-plus people attending the annual West Fargo Chamber of Commerce promoted Spring Business Expo last Thursday at the Veterans Memorial Arena were pleased with the balanced mixture of business exhibitions, entertainment, and fun that the event once again doled out in just the proper proportions.
Those participating worked off the theme in fine fashion - Area Businesses - Growers of the Community - with the number of businesses participating up from the prior year.
Chamber Membership Sales Coordinator Teresa Blotsky said she heard several remarks throughout the evening from those attending saying they enjoyed the great variety of booths, consisting of mainly West Fargo Chamber members, and a few non-members, as well as one company from Canada, who had inquired about the event before deciding to be a part of it - USANA Health Sciences and Independent Associate Lorne Zagrodnick from Fisher Branch, Manitoba.
Blotsky said it is the Chamber membership that is key to events like the annual business expo. On that note, the Chamber just recently secured its 400th business to its membership roster, a number set earlier this year as the goal to achieve.
Chamber President Chris Barton reinforced Blotsky's statement saying "the event is indeed a sign our Chamber is growing, because of the increase in exhibitors." She added that exhibitors were also pleased with the outcome, ending the event on a highly positive note. "Exhibitors had commented during the evening that many referrals turned into sales."
An impressive Color Guard opened the program, followed by the singing of the "National Anthem" by West Fargo High School junior Brandon Millar. Other popular highlights were a number of activities geared for the children: Games Galore; a Halftime by Sheri performance; a TNT Kids Fitness presentation; music by the High School Jazz Band; and a clown, who spent her time visiting and creating made-to-order balloon sculptures. Carnival excitement offered up by Students Against Drunk Drivers (SADD), was also a high point for the many youngsters stopping by the tables to test their skills and win prizes.
AAA of ND was the recipient of the Traveling Trophy, after being deemed the booth best fitting the Business Expo theme by a panel of judges. This marked the eighth year for the award, which last year was presented to the West Fargo Park District.
Several other booth prizes and general door prizes were presented throughout the evening to the delight of those lucky enough to have their names called.
Refreshments were also plentiful, with the West Fargo Parks serving up hundreds of sno cones, the West Fargo Pioneer handing out as many bags of popcorn, Famous Dave's their signature barbecued pork, and the West Fargo VFW their trademark meatballs.
Sponsors of the Spring Business Expo, in addition to the West Fargo Chamber of Commerce, were Games Galore Party Rental, IdeaOne, West Fargo Parks and Recreation and the West Fargo Pioneer.
