Spring Expo benefits students attending National FCCLA Competition

Twelve Sheyenne ninth graders attended the State FCCLA Convention on April 7-9, chaperoned by Mary Anderson and Danielle Jangula. Participation provided a great opportunity for the these members to learn leadership skills through key note speakers and breakout sessions while they networked with fellow FCCLA'ers from across North Dakota.

The Sheyenne Chapter was awarded a platinum level award for raising $1,179.82 for Children's Miracle Network this year. Members attending were: Amanda Cota, Amanda Krupich, Eli Ratchenski, Karlee Wold, Kailee Wallace, Olivia Estrada, Isabella Estrada, Olivia Osei-Tutu, Daniela Redzic, Mariah Shafer, Nicole Bojarski, and Taylor Johnson.

Eli Ratchenski, Kailee Wallace, and Karlee Wold competed in the State STAR Event Competition in the Chapter Service Project - Children's Miracle Network division. The goal of their project was to make children who are undergoing cancer treatment feel beautiful even when dealing with the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation. They made headbands and provided bandanas for these children. The group received a silver medal and will travel to Nashville, Tenn. in July to compete at a national level.

To raise money for their travels, the students will be sponsoring a Spring Expo/Vendor Blender on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Sheyenne Ninth Grade Center Commons. Vendors will include: Scentsy, Grace Adele, Rodan & Fields, It Works!, J & S Handcrafts, Nerium, Usborne Books, Herbalife, Princess House, Tupperware, Pink Zebra, Longaberger, Thirty-One, Blessings Unlimited, Origami Owl, Celebrate Home, Tastefully Simple, D&D Enterprises (bison, jerky, and nuts), and more.

Everyone is welcome to attend and help these girls advance their leadership skills at the national level.
