St. Andrew blood drive makes important contribution
A Blood Drive at St. Andrew Church in West Fargo on Aug. 6 resulted in 24 people volunteering to donate and 18 able to give. Three people gave blood on the automated 2RBC machine which collects two units of red blood cells during the donation, so a total of 21 products were collected.
Whether numbers are large or small, they are still a very important contribution to the community blood supply. Sponsoring a blood drive with an adequate number of donors is a very important responsibility to ensure a safe and adequate blood supply.
Lavaughn Moreland coordinated the drive, and St. Andrew Church sponsored and assisted with recruiting donors, publicity, providing refreshments, and registering donors. Les Schilling and Sara Moreland also assisted the day of the drive.
Donations will help meet the blood needs of many patients in the 93 area hospitals served by United Blood Services.
