STEM students participate in conference

West Fargo STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) Center students and teachers meet with U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan (D-N.D.) and famed inventor Dean Kamen at the 2010 Red River Valley Research Corridor Milestones and Horizons Conference. The students interacted with other schools and university officials from around the region at the conference. Senator Dorgan invited the West Fargo middle-school students to the conference, which featured well-known presenters and showcased the many exciting high-tech projects happening in North Dakota. The Research Corridor is a successful initiative conceived of by Senator Dorgan in 2002 that has boosted high-tech research, development and commercialization in the region - creating new industries and well-paying jobs. The principal of the West Fargo STEM Center is Tabatha Joyce. Along with listening to speeches from Senator Dorgan and Kamen, students and teachers took part in a hands-on workshop exploring science, technology, engineering, and mathematics concepts.
