Power went out at about 6:30 p.m. for 1,070 north West Fargo customers, said Bonnie Lund, an Xcel spokeswoman.

Some West Fargo residents were still without power at 10 p.m. as crews worked to restore electricity.

Another 1,160 customers east of Interstate 29 in north Fargo from Main Avenue to 40th Avenue North lost power about 6:45 p.m., but crews had restored electricity by Tuesday evening.

The storm, accompanied by heavy rain and winds, moved through the metro about 6:30 p.m.

Warning sirens in the metro were set off by mistake at about 9:30 p.m. after authorities mistook a tornado watch for a tornado warning, according to regional dispatchers.
