Several West Fargo High School students recently were honored for their academic achievements.

Lexi Welken, Rikki Haarsager-Dockter, Chelsea Waters, Devika Timsina, Tatiana Simiyu, Taylor Faltersack and Megan Rud all were honored April 12, with the STRETCH Award, a biannual program recognizing the top two students from each grade who have made the most significant increase in overall grade point average from quarter to quarter.

Kelley Scheid and Rachel Dwyer are co-advisors of the Renaissance Club at WFHS, which puts on the STRETCH Award. Scheid said Renaissance is a program designed to celebrate and reward student achievement and character through the partnerships built among administrators, faculty, staff, parents and local businesses.

For the STRETCH Award, in particular, area businesses were very generous in their contributions, she said. The honored students were given a limo ride, donated by Xtreme Limousine, to Space Aliens for lunch before heading to Cold Stone Creamery for dessert, all free of charge.

Tuesday's STRETCH Award was the first of the school year.
