Students advance to national skills competition

West Fargo High School students from the Recreational Engines and Building Trades program competed at the 2014 SkillsUSA competition held at North Dakota State College Science on April 13 – 15.

Students from across the state competed in leadership and skills competitions and had the opportunity to test their skills and leadership abilities.

Students who received awards were: Grant Nelson (first place) and Darrin Murch (second) in motorcycle technology; Matt Keller (first) and Michael Gores (third) in power equipment technology; Brady Iverson (second) and Brendon Scott (third) in cabinet making; and Tyler Thorsteinson (first) in carpentry.

Nelson, Keller and Thorsteinson will now represent West Fargo High School – and the state – at the National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City, Mo., from June 23-27.

Advisors for the group are Jerry Nordstrom and Bob Bjornson.
