Summer racing at speedway closer to reality
In less than two minutes Tuesday night, racing at the Red River Valley Speedway moved another step closer to reality.
During a special meeting, the Red River Valley Fair board unanimously approved a contract for Danny Schatz to take over the track.
According to previous reports, the new contract lets Schatz schedule 30 races during the summer: 20 on Wednesday nights and 10 at other times. All that remains is for both sides to sign the contract.
"We have a contract and, hopefully, within the next week we'll have racing for the summer," board President Bill Hoffmann said.
The board had time to review the plan prior to the meeting. It was motioned to carry based on an e-mail they received, but RRVF General Manager Bryan Schulz noted that a plan for a retention pond was also part of the contract, but not in the e-mail.
The board decided to pass the contract, anyway.
