Tennis moves to 11-1 on season
The Packers boys’ tennis team continued its dominant start to the season this weekend, despite Saturday’s West Fargo Invitational tournament being cut short due to rain.
On Friday, the Pack won two matches to bring their record to 11-1.
“It feels great, but we are still not done,” head coach Chad Anderson said. “We are cautiously optimistic in what the future might hold for us during the next two weeks of tennis.”
They started the day by beating Bismarck High 5-0, then followed that up with another 5-0 victory, this time over Minot.
Saturday’s West Fargo Invitational was supposed to feature 16 teams participating in roughly 100 matches, but the rainy conditions cut the tournament in half.
Before the tournament ended, the Packers got two wins apiece from senior Brendan Walker, junior Brady Ballweber and freshman North knewtson.
The Packers, who are 5-1 in the Eastern Dakota Conference and just one game out of first place, travel to Fargo Davies tomorrow for a 4 p.m. match, which will be their final match of the regular season. The EDC Tournament begins next week.
“We’ve been close so many times to qualify for state as a team, but just can't get over that hump,” Anderson said. “Our conference will have five teams that could on any given day could challenge to go to State as team.”
