The Packer tennis team is state-tournament bound.

In the East Regional Tournament on Thursday, the Pack topped Fargo Davies 4-1 and Fargo South 5-0 before falling to Grand Forks Red River 5-0 in the finals and securing the No. 2 seed in the East.

The second-place finish means the 15-2 Packers will begin Thursday’s state tournament in Fargo by facing Williston -- the West’s No. 3 seed -- at the Discovery Middle School tennis court.

According to head coach Chad Anderson, the last time the Packers tennis team went to state was 1978.

The team will also be represented in both the singles and doubles tournaments as well.

Freshman North Knewtson earned the East’s No. 3 seed in the individual tournament, and will face Minot’s Grayson Bahl at Elephant Park on Friday at 1 p.m.

The doubles team of juniors Brady Ballweber and Keyan Farahmand are the East’s top doubles team, and will face a Minot team at Courts Plus on Friday at 1 p.m.
