Timing is everything, growth is thriving

What a difference a year makes was expressed aptly by West Fargo Mayor Rich Mattern as he opened Monday nights regularly scheduled commission meeting describing the building permit report as "pretty remarkable."

Remarkable indeed.

Talk about a turnaround.

Last year at the end of April, the city had issued 104 building permits with total valuation at about $7.5 million compared to this year with permits already numbering 229 and total valuation at a whopping $79 million, involving both residential and commercial endeavors.

Taking that even a few days further tallying figures through May 4, permits number 254 taking the valuation count even higher to $82.3 million.

"Pretty astounding numbers for only the middle of May," Mattern added.

And it appears there will be no end in sight to these ascending figures anytime soon given all the construction activity in West Fargo's newest growth area, adjacent to Veterans Boulevard.

Really good news for the community that truly does continue to support its well-earned reputation as "a city on the grow."
