Toenies benefit lunch Sunday in Hillsboro

A benefit luncheon for Lisa Toenies will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 31, at the Hillsboro Elementary School, 128 4th St. S.E. The meal will feature hamburgers with all the toppings, salads, desserts, and a beverage.

Toenies, a 5th grade instructor at the school, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009 and is still undergoing treatment at the Roger Maris Cancer Center. She and her husband, Scott, and two children, Mikkaela and Shandon, make their home at Hillsboro. Toenies is the daughter of Duke and Pat Samson of Harwood.

A freewill offering will be taken with proceeds going toward ongoing medical expenses. The event is sponsored by the Hillsboro Education Association. Matching funds will be provided by the Trail County Thrivent for Lutherans.
