Toppers Car Club gives $5K to ND veterans support fund

North Dakota’s Impact – Support Our Veterans Fund received a $5,000 donation from the West Fargo-based Toppers Custom Car Club.

The Toppers club, established in 1953, hosts the West Fargo Cruise Night every third Thursday during the summer months and the annual Rod and Custom Car Show every spring at the West Fargo Veterans Arena.

Richard Barnes, president of Toppers, presented North Dakota Veterans Commissioner Lonnie Wangen with the check at July’s Cruise Night.

“It was a very generous and appreciated donation,” Wangen said. “This money will help a lot of our veterans who ‘fall through the cracks’ in the system and have nowhere else to turn in an emergency situation,” he stated.

The Impact – Support Our Veterans Fund is a non-profit 501(c)(3) designed to support the emergency needs of North Dakota veterans and their eligible dependents. The fund helps with urgent needs such as health care, dental issues, dentures, glasses, hearing aids, housing, economic recovery, transportation to health care and other emergency needs.

One hundred percent of the donations made to the fund will benefit veterans.

The Dakota Medical Foundation and the Impact foundations absorb all fund fees and the North Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs processes grant requests.
