Track: Grooters signs with Nebraska
It's official: West Fargo track phenom Ellie Grooters is heading to Nebraska.
Grooters signed her National Letter of Intent on Wednesday, Feb. 3, to attend the University of Nebraska. She made a verbal commitment with the Huskers on Dec. 17.
Grooters is one of the Packers most decorated female athletes, having been named to the All-EDC team each year since 2005 and the All-State team the past three years. Besides possessing the 100- and 300-meter hurdle titles since 2007, she also took title on the 400 and 800 relay teams as a freshman and the 3,200 relay as a junior.
Before deciding on Nebraska, Grooters also had looked at Minnesota, North Dakota State and Wisconsin. She plans to pursue a degree in pre-pharmacy at Nebraska, which is a Division I school in the Big 12 conference.
Grooters is the daughter of Robin, and Greg Grooters, West Fargo.
