Also included in the alert are Casselton, Hillsboro, Wahpeton, Lisbon and surrounding areas.

Portions of Minnesota from the far northwest to the south are under a winter storm warning through Tuesday, as a slow-moving system is expected to hang around and dump up to 11 inches of snow in some areas.

Much of central and south-central Minnesota are included in the warning, including Alexandria, Little Falls, Willmar, and Albert Lea. Forecasters say 8 inches to 11 inches are expected in those areas.

The Twin Cities will be under a winter storm warning from 6 tonight through noon Tuesday, with up to 11 inches expected.

Northern Minnesota, stretching from the Fargo-Moorhead area to Duluth, is also expected to see significant snowfall. Six to 10 inches are possible near Lake Superior.

Motorists are still able to travel, but icy roads and areas of reduced visibility may result in traffic delays, according to the alert.

All motorists are encouraged to monitor conditions, reduce speeds as appropriate and use caution when traveling.
