Triumph Lutheran adds to facility

Triumph West Lutheran Brethren Church, which opened its facility on Sheyenne St. in December of 2009, is already growing out of its space and is building a 1200 square-foot addition off the southwest corner of their building.

This new addition will be one large room, used primarily as an educational space. Portable dividers will be used to separate Sunday school classes within the room.

Seeing as how the whole facility is used for multiple purposes - the Sunday services are held in the same area that recreational basketball is played during the week and storage areas that are emptied and used as Sunday school classrooms - Paster Vern Baardson hopes this new area will be used in a variety of ways.

The reason for the addition is an obvious one: their congregation keeps on growing. According to Baardson, what started as a group of roughly 50 loyal churchgoers meeting in various locales, including the Ramada Plaza Suites, roughly seven years ago has now become a congregation of over 400 people, primarily young families.

"What we have is a church on the grow in the city on the grow," Baardson said. "Our congregation is lots and lots of young families with children."

Funds for the addition were raised in two months, the construction will be paid for as soon as it is complete.

Baardson believes that this expansion is just the beginning for the church, and that more construction on their seven-acre plot could occur in the near future.

"As West Fargo grows, so we think we'll continue to grow," Baardson said.

Construction on the church should be complete in mid-October.
