The Packers topped the Fargo North Spartans 49-42 on Tuesday before edging the Fargo South Bruins 64-58 on Friday.

Senior Caleb Mattila had a big game against North, scoring 17 points and pulling down six rebounds.

“What Caleb did well was take advantage of the opportunities he had,” head coach Greg Limke said. “He really was a key to our success.”

Despite their victory, the team’s 49-point total was the second-lowest of the season for the Packers.

“North did a great job on defense,” Limke said, “but we need to do a better job offensively.”

The team bounced back on Friday, with a 20-point, nine-rebound performance from center Derek Hogenson and a 15-point showing from forward Travis Schock.

The 12-5 Packers face the Fargo Davies Eagles, who are a half point behind the Packers in the EDC standings, tomorrow night at home. The winner of that game will enter postseason play on Tuesday with the No. 3 seed in the conference.

“We’re excited,” Limke said. “We have a lot of work to do, but we’ll be bringing a lot of energy.”
