These words from Kim Wangler, recreation specialist for the West Fargo Park District, who coordinated the fourth annual Dog Show held last Thursday, Aug. 18, at North Elmwood Park Shelter.

Jane Alexander of Bob 95, served as emcee. Approximately 20 dogs participated in the large dog category and about 30 in the small dog division, with judging conducted and prizes awarded in a variety of areas. Wangler said several other dogs also showed up just to watch and enjoy treats.

Between 15 and 20 pet-related vendors, explaining and demonstrating their product offerings, were also a part of the activity, including: FM Kennel Club, Pet Palace, Shaggy's Dog Wash, Minnesota Sheltie Rescue, FM Humane Society, Sheyenne River Kennels, Red River North Dog Obedience Club, "That Mutt," Fargo Boarding & Grooming Services, Adopt-a-Pet, 4 Luv of Dog Rescue, Therapy Pets of the Red River Valley, Dogwatch Hidden Fence, Casselton Veterinary Service Inc., Natural Pet Center, and Petco. Ian McDonald also provided an agility demonstration.

Wangler said the dog show has evolved into a highly popular Park District event. Last year's evening was rained out and not held, but interest for the event remained high with the turnout excellent for Thursday's show which occurred on one of the nicest days of the summer.

She said all in all people just basically enjoy the venue for showcasing their pets. Those attending also qualified for the variety of door prizes that were awarded throughout the evening. "People love it. They love to bring their dogs and they love talking to the vendors, and everyone really had a good time. We definitely plan on hosting the show again next year because of all the positive response."
