Ty's Take: Fall season winding down; four sports remain
With its state tournament last weekend, boys soccer is the third fall sport to see its season end. That leaves four sports remaining. Here's a quick rundown on where the Packers stand.
Cross country: The state meet is this Saturday in Jamestown. The Packers are coming off a first-place finish at last Wednesday's Andrew Carlson Distance Challenge. The Packers are hoping to improve on last year's state tournament, in which the girls finished third and the boys placed ninth overall.
Football: West Fargo's last regular-season game is 7 p.m. today against Grand Forks Central. The Packers then will have 10 days to prepare for the state tournament quarterfinals beginning Oct. 30.
Girls swimming and diving: The Packers had a dual hosting Wahpeton on Tuesday, but results from the meet were not available by press time. Their final meet of the regular season is 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 29 at Fargo Shanley. The East Region meet is Oct 6 in West Fargo, and state is the following weekend in Mandan.
Volleyball: West Fargo faced Moorhead on Tuesday, but results were not in by press time. They face Davies at 7 p.m. Oct. 28, and then have two more matches before the conference tournament Nov. 11-13. State is Nov. 18-20, in Minot.
