Veterans memorial celebration at Bonanzaville
The Veterans Memorial Celebration will be held at Bonanzaville on May 30 from 3 to 7 p.m. to celebrate the region's veterans, military, and their families. All activities are free and open to the entire community.
The gates will open at 3 p.m. for free admission to tour the village. A tram will be available at 5:30 p.m. for those with limited mobility. There will also be booths featuring various veterans associations and related service organizations beginning at 5:30 p.m. A BBQ and social will be held from 5:45 until 6:30 p.m., when the program will begin with speaker Randy Wimmer, a former B-52 Navigator during the Vietnam War. The new Bonanzaville Mayor Jay Thomas will be involved in this year's event as well.
Bonanzaville is operated by the Cass County Historical Society, with a mission to collect, display and interpret artifacts relevant to the history and cultural heritage of the Red River Valley. It is the region's largest historical attraction with 43 buildings, and more than 400,000 artifacts.
