A Veterans Memorial Celebration will be held at Bonanzaville on May 23. All activities will be free and open to the entire community. The gates will open at 3 p.m. and a tram will be available at 5 p.m. for those with limited mobility. A BBQ and social will be held from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m. followed by a program with guest speaker Wayne McKirdy's topic "What the military has done for me." There will also be a collection of used flags that will be turned over to the West Fargo VFW Post 7564 for retirement.
In addition to sponsorship from Bonanzaville and West Funeral Homes, several sponsors in the community have come together to help make this event possible. They include: the West Fargo VFW Post 7564 and Ladies Auxiliary, Sunmart, the FM Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Western Bank.
Bonanzaville is operated by the Cass County Historical Society, with a mission to collect, display and interpret artifacts relevant to the history and cultural heritage of the Red River Valley. It is the region's largest historical attraction with 43 buildings, and more than 400,000 artifacts.
