Volleyball loses two straight games

After winning both of their matches two weeks ago, the Packers had a bit of a rough time last week, dropping both matches to Moorhead and Grand Forks-Red River.

In Tuesday's match against the Spuds, the Packers took the first game 25-21, but lost in the next three by scores of 25-15, 25-23 and 25-21.

The Packers were led in this match by junior Shelby Gustafson, who had 12 kills, and senior Andrea Klug, who tallied 31 assists, two kills and two aces.

Amanda Levin chipped in nine kills of her own, along with two aces. Junior Courtney Suppa also had six kills and seven digs.

The Packers were met with a similar situation in Thursday's match against the Roughriders, as West Fargo took the first match 25-13 before dropping the next three by scores of 25-20, 25-23 and 25-19.

Levin, Suppa and Christina Bruenjes combined for 32 kills in the match, with Levin earning 12 and the other two getting 10 each.

Levin also had an impressive 17 digs on Thursday.

Klug managed to get 36 assists.

With the two losses, the Packers move to 9-7 on the season and 4-2 in the Eastern Dakota Conference. They are currently ranked fifth in the conference, and three games out of first place.

The team will head to Fargo North tomorrow night to take on the third-place Spartans, and then have an away match against the Fargo Shanley Deacons on Tuesday night.
