Waller waives extradition in sexual assalt case
Michael Jerome Waller Jr., 23, who was arrested Sept. 18 in Yonkers, New York, on a Cass County felony warrant for gross sexual imposition and burglary, signed a waiver a week ago today (Wednesday) to be extradited to North Dakota to face the charges.
West Fargo Police Department officials believe he is the man responsible for the November, 2005, sexual assault by knifepoint of a 73-year-old West Fargo woman, with DNA testing linking him to the case. A former West Fargo resident, Waller lived about five blocks from the victim.
West Fargo Police Detective Sergeant Greg Warren said that Cass County Sheriff Department officials will be traveling to New York to accompany Waller back to the area, an action that probably won't occur until sometime next week.
Upon his return, Waller will be incarcerated in the Cass County Jail until he is arraigned and a bond set.
In other police department action, David Claerbout, age 57 of West Fargo was bitten by a stray German Shepherd dog on Sept. 27, in the 400 block of B Street in Brookwood Mobile Home Park.
The dog, described as skinny, has still not been located at this time.
Anyone with information about the dog, is asked to contact the West Fargo Police Department at 433-5500.
