Warren will seek District 45 nomination
A former West Fargo city commissioner who helped incorporate Riverside into the city limits in the 1980s announced her candidacy for the state House of Representatives.
Brenda Warren announced Friday that she is seeking the North Dakota Democratic-NPL Party District 45 endorsement.
District 45 was represented in the 2013 legislative session by Republican Joe Heilman and Democrat Ed Gruchalla.
Heilman announced he will not seek re-election in 2014.
“Property tax reform is an immediate need,” Warren said in a statement. “The Legislature has not done enough to ease the burden of high property taxes. State government has not been transparent with the people in their forecasts of the monies that are available to provide relief. Some leaders of the Republican supermajority actually blame local governments for the property tax problem. As a former city commissioner, that offends me. The state should work with, not against, local governments.”Warren, a communications manager for National Hospitality Services, served eight years on the West Fargo City Commission and has served on the Riverside City Council where she worked on the community’s 1989 merger with the city of West Fargo.Warren’s husband of 38 years, Greg, is a detective sergeant with the West Fargo Police Department. The couple has three children and six grandchildren.
