Weather will go from bad to worse
The bad news: winds of 31-41 mph are gusting across the Red River Valley today - causing zero visibility and very hazardous driving conditions.
The worse news: storm trackers say the heaviest snow is still on its way.
WDAY Meteorologist Rob Kupac said the heavy snow was just entering Clay County at about 3:30 p.m. today. The snowfall would likely pick up around 4:30 p.m. or 5 p.m.
Kupac said 3 to 6 inches were expected to fall in the Fargo-Moorhead area, but eastern Clay County, Becker County and Ottertail County could see between 6 to 10 inches of snow today.
Winds should die down around midnight and by morning the Valley will see calm before the second storm moves in late Friday afternoon.
"The snow should be done pretty much first thing Saturday morning and I think by Saturday noon time we'll start to see the wind let up," Kupac said. "First thing Saturday morning it won't be great idea to hit the roads though."
