Police responded to a report of a fight in a vehicle at 5 p.m. Friday in the 4500 block of 45th Street South.

A witness who was driving behind the pickup told police that when it stopped for a stop sign, the passenger punched the driver four to five times in the head, Fargo Police Sgt. Mark Lykken said.

The witness told police the driver then punched the passenger two or three times in the head, he said.

The pickup continued south and pulled into a church lot, where the driver opened the door, pulled the passenger out of the pickup and onto the ground and kicked him in the head twice, rendering him unconscious, Lykken said.

The driver fled the scene on foot and was located by police and arrested, he said. The passenger was treated at Essentia Health and arrested by police.

The alleged driver, Nicholas Walter, 31, of West Fargo, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated domestic violence, DUI and driving under suspension.

His brother, Eric Walter, 33, of West Fargo, was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence.

The mother of Eric Walter's 1-year-old daughter took custody of her at the scene, Lykken said.
