The team won earlier in the day, trouncing Grand Forks 8-2.

Bismarck coach Mike Skytland said losing to Fargo earlier in the day made the Govs reassess their goals.

Fourth-seeded West Fargo (24-18) made a run into the final three, but couldn’t solve Bismarck hurler Kole Bauer, who allowed only two hits in the West Fargo-Bismarck matchup.

Camran Bonnema, who had his team’s only two hits, took the loss.

“He was locating the ball really well and missing our bats pretty good,” West Fargo coach Bill Ibach said. “I’m glad we were competitive at the end.”

Before facing Grand Forks and Bismarck on Saturday, the Patriots advanced by beating Minot 9-7 in their first tournament game on Wednesday.

But they then suffered their first loss on Thursday to Bismarck at 10-0 before shutting out Jamestown 6-0 on Friday.
