West Fargo monitors Sheyenne for ice jams
WEST FARGO - West Fargo Public Works employees are monitoring the Sheyenne Diversion for ice jams, as are workers for BNSF Railway. A railroad bridge crosses the diversion west of West Fargo.
Amy McBeth, director of public affairs for BNSF in North Dakota, said like in past years, the company would bring in a locomotive train and other equipment to work the ice jam if it were to back up at the railroad bridge.
"We do have equipment ready if the ice were to back up. We're in touch with engineering folks there, and they're monitoring it, and we'll continue to monitor it as well," McBeth said.
