Matthew Tintes, formerly of West Fargo, and a member of the premier men's vocal ensemble, "Cantus," will be performing with the group at Concordia College in Moorhead on Jan. 25, at 7:30 p.m. Cantus was recently named one of the Top 10 Artists of 2012 by the Star Tribune.
The nine members of Cantus are renowned across the country for their programming that spans many periods and genres, including works commissioned specifically for them. Their frequent appearances on national public broadcasts, including an upcoming third appearance on Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion" on Feb. 9, have helped Cantus gain an international audience, as well. The group will be performing in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates in March and will be featured performers for the second consecutive year at the Bravo! Music Festival in Vail, CO, in July.
In addition to concert performances, Cantus actively engages in educational outreach in Minnesota schools and colleges and in other communities as they tour the country. They were recipients of Chorus America's Educational Outreach Award in 2011.
As a former high school and college music teacher, Tintes enjoys being able to combine his teaching experience with his love of musical performance as the group works with students across the country.
Cantus just released their most recent album, "On the Shoulders of Giants," which includes repertoire that spans nearly a thousand years.
