Members of the West Fargo Police Department took part in the Area Law Enforcement Bell Ringer's Challenge Monday, Dec. 5. The activity pitted law enforcement agencies from Cass and Clay Counties, the North Dakota Highway Patrol and North Dakota Parole and Probation against one another to see who could raise the most money. Total donations for the day were $12,020, a record for day 16 of the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign.
Gerri Leach, coordinator for the Salvation Army, was pleased with the results. Leach was impressed with the amount of funds collected and the number of positive comments from the participants. Leach said the greatest endorsement of the quality of experience at the kettles was when one officer who volunteered Monday sent an e-mail requesting another shift so he could take his family to ring the bells.
The Red Kettles will be in place through 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Donations will be taken at any of the kettle sites. You can sign up to be a bell ringer or donate online at http://www.usc.salvationarmy.org/usc/www_usc_fargo.nsf/.
