West Fargo students attend N.D. FBLA conference
In March, members of the West Fargo High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter attended the North Dakota FBLA State Leadership Conference in Fargo.
More than 50 FBLA chapters from across the state participated in this conference, where approximately 1,200 students had the opportunity to test their business skills in more than 55 events.
The most exciting aspect of the conference is the competitive events program, where students have the opportunity to test the business skills they've learned in the classroom in a variety of individual, team and chapter events. Students can enter events such as accounting, computer applications, public speaking, job interview, Web site development or networking concepts. The culmination of the competitive events program is the awards ceremony, when winners are recognized for their accomplishments. In addition to the competitive events program, students had the opportunity to attend workshops, business tours and college tours.
At the opening session of the Future Business Leaders of America Conference, two West Fargo students earned honors. Madison Anderson was recognized as Chapter President and Levi Bachmeier received the Local Chapter Who's Who Award for Outstanding Leadership Achievement. The West Fargo FBLA Chapter also received the Membership Achievement Award for FBLA Membership Support and Growth.
West Fargo had nine place winners out of 13 participants. The following students placed at the conference: Matt Prochniak, 10th place, Business Math; Anderson and Austin Keller, fifth place, Desktop Publishing; Ryne Schaeffer, seventh place, Spreadsheets; Bachmeier, fifth place, Spreadsheets; Dan Hoy, fourth place, Spreadsheets; Madison Hausauer, sixth place, Economics; Bachmeier, second place, Economics; and Keller, first place, Economics.
Bachmeier and Keller have qualified for the National FBLA Leadership Conference, to be held in Nashville this summer. Rick Anderson also received the FBLA Local Adviser Service Award for 25 years of dedicated service.
