West Fargo students place at speech tournament
West Fargo High School students were among top place winners in each of the 14 categories at the 61st annual NDHSAA Sponsored State Class A Speech Tournament held at Jamestown High School on April 20. All participants qualified from one of two regional tournaments or qualified at an invitational tournament held during the season.
Jasmin Quirroz placed sixth in the Poetry category; Bryce Vogel took sixth place and Erin Offermann 8th in the Humorous Inperpretation division; Jaurdyn Gillis and Bryce Vogel took first in Serious Duo; Jaurdyn Gillis first in Serious Prose, Jewell Simonson fourth in Serious Prose.
Bismarck Saint Mary’s captured first place with 131 points. Shanley took second with 63 points, Fargo Davies third with 60 points and Mandan fourth with 56 points.
Elected by peers as the 2013 State A Speech Coach of the Year was Eydie Wagar of Valley City.
