West Fargo Summer Arts Intensive to premiere “Monty Python’s Spamalot”
The West Fargo Summer Arts Intensive will present the Tony Award-winning Best Musical of 2005, “Monty Python's Spamalot,” in its amateur, regional premiere at West Fargo High School for two weeks of hilarious performances August 1-9, 2014.
“Monty Python's Spamalot” is the outrageous musical comedy “lovingly ripped off” from the cult classic motion picture Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It tells the story of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they embark on their quest for the Holy Grail. This hysterically irreverent musical features a chorus line of dancing divas and knee-slapping knights, flatulent Frenchmen, flying cows, killer rabbits, a legless knight, and several show-stopping musical numbers including “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life” and “The Song That Goes Like This.”
“Spamalot” marks the fourth production for Summer Arts Intensive following previous productions of “Pippin,” “A Chorus Line,” and last year’s hit, “Chicago.” Led by local arts educators and professionals committed to focused, individualized training, Summer Arts Intensive is made possible through a collaboration with the West Fargo Public Schools. This five-week program mimics a professional production schedule with cast rehearsals from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday beginning July 7. Participation is not exclusive to West Fargo residents and is open to all interested high school and college-aged artists. Auditions for cast and orchestra positions will be held the week of April 14th. Applications for technical positions will also be sought at that time.
