West Fargo VFW, Horace American Legion host separate Memorial Day programs

Members of VFW Post 7564, AMVETS Post 8 and the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW will be joining with the West Fargo High School Junior ROTC and Boy Scouts Troop 232 in honoring veterans on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31.

The Flag Raising Ceremony at 10:30 a.m. outside the VFW Club at 308 Sheyenne St., West Fargo, will be in honor of the late Randy Grosz, United States Army, WW II Veteran. Grosz of Elgin, N.D. is the brother of Myra Taylor, a member of West Fargo's Ladies Auxiliary. He died March 19, 2010.

Breaking from the tradition of marching to Elmwood Park, this year's entire ceremony will take place inside the VFW after the flag raising ceremony. A memorial address will be given by Sergeant Steven Hoikkala, United States Army. Eagle Scout Brandon Millar will sing the musical selections. There will be a salute to VFW, Auxiliary, and AMVETS members who have passed away since last year's Memorial Day.

Coffee, juice and cookies will be served immediately following the program.
