West Fargo youth wins State VFW competition

Christopher Briones, a 6th grade student at Cheney Middle School, West Fargo was recently awarded first place in the ND VFW’s Patriot’s Pen Competition. Christopher’s entry was sponsored by VFW Post 7564 and Ladies Auxiliary, West Fargo. His entry awarded him $500 and an honorary plaque which was presented to Christopher at the ND VFW Midwinter Conference in Devils Lake on January 11th.

The Patriots Pen competition was open to Middle School students in grades 6 – 8. The students write a 300 – 400 word essay on a patriotic theme. The theme for this year was “What Patriotism Means to Me”.
