West Fargo's Jorgenson earns award with NDSU equestrian team

North Dakota State University's Western equestrian team member Alyssa Jorgenson, West Fargo, earned honorable mention in intermediate horsemanship at a postseason regional horse show March 7, at the University of Minnesota-Crookston.

Jorgenson, a junior at NDSU, was one of eight members of the team who competed in the event. To advance in postseason competition, exhibitors must place first or second in their classes.

Three members of NDSU's team earned a trip to semifinal competition at Cal Poly in Pomona, Calif., at the end of March: juniors Jenna Benjaminson, Walhalla, and Sara Holman, Glyndon, Minn., and freshman Juliann Zach, Rosholt, S.D.

Others placing at Crookston were:

• Open horsemanship - Janelle Lanoue, junior, Alexandria, Minn., fifth.

• Novice horsemanship - Amanda Grev, junior, Rochester, Minn., fifth; Shannon Voges, junior, Courtland, Minn., sixth.

• Intermediate horsemanship - Megan Mueller, freshman, Hillsboro, sixth.
