WF 13U girls hockey team earns state title

A local girls hockey team recently culminated their season in the best way possible: with a state title.

The West Fargo 13U girls hockey team won the North Dakota State A championship on March 11 in Fargo.

The Packers won three straight games in commanding fashion en route to the title crown, beating Dickinson 14-1, Bismarck 7-1, and the Fargo Freeze 9-3.

"The girls really worked hard as a team and played well all season," coach Dustin Gustafson said. "This is a great group of hockey players, and I am excited to see what they accomplish as they continue their careers."

Captain Paige Lazorenko and line mate Janey Sandoval led the Packers with 18 points apiece. Lazorenko ended the tournament with 12 goals and 6 assists, while Sandoval contributed 6 goals and 12 assists.

The Packers are coached by Gustafson and Dave Stover.

The West Fargo title team is comprised of Paige Lazorenko, Mackenzie Jaskowski, Noelle Turner, Allie Stover, Anna Prommersberger, Courtney Walsh, Gillian Sauter, Elaina Schneider, Megan Berginski, Alexis Lemley, Janey Sandoval, and goalie Madison Arthur.
