The West Fargo High School bowling team finished in second place during the state tournament Nov. 20, at Sunset Bowling Lanes in Moorhead.
It is the highest the Packers have ever placed, "and the best we've ever done," West Fargo coach Paul Hirchert said.
West Fargo qualified second in points behind Dickinson for the position round. The Packers won two matches before losing to Dickinson. That put West Fargo in the one-loss bracket.
The Packers clawed back, and once again found themselves facing Dickinson. This time, the tables turned and West Fargo came out on top.
"The kids performed very well," Hirchert said. "I was very proud of them."
Fargo South wound up taking the crown, defeating West Fargo in the championship match.
In the end, three Packers earned All-Conference honors.
West Fargo should be strong once again next year, Hirchert said, as they lose only two seniors in Matt Clark and Ryan Remmen.
"It will be a great season," Hirchert said. "More schools will be joining the program next season, and that will be even more fun."
