WF football coach nominates Pistorius for national honor
West Fargo High School senior Jon Pistorius is eligible to be selected as a national Old Spice High School Football Player of the Year.
Winners from the selection process will be honored in a full-page feature in USA Today.
This past season, Pistorius was a first-team North Dakota Class 3A all-state football selection. As a cornerback, he set a school record with nine interceptions, while also accumulating 25 tackles and a fumble recovery. Pistorious also was West Fargo's top kick returner, averaging more than 16 yards per carry.
Pistorious also showed offensive talent. As a wide receiver, his 413 yards off 26 catches was third highest on the team, averaging nearly 16 yards per catch. He also scored two touchdowns.
Packers coach Jay Gibson sent in the Player of the Year nomination for Pistorious, who will be eligible to be one of 50 national players of the year.
