The West Fargo Knights of Columbus will be hosting their third annual Soccer Challenge (penalty kick shootout), with winners progressing through local, district, regional, and state competitions.
The challenge will be held Tuesday, Sept. 27 at the Scheels Soccer Complex, located at 13th Avenue and 10th Street West, in West Fargo.
Registration begins at 6 p.m., with competition kicking off at 6:30.
The district competition is scheduled for Oct. 4, while regional competition is Oct. 11. The state competition is Saturday, Oct. 22, at 1 p.m., with registration at noon.
The Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge is open to all boys and girls, ages 10-14 in West Fargo, Fargo, and the surrounding North Dakota communities. Eligibility is determined by the age of the contestant as of Sept. 1. Proof of age will be required for all winners. A parent or guardian is asked to accompany the athlete to sign the consent form on the application. Athletes in high school should be advised to check with their school athletic directors or their state high school athletic associations regarding possible eligibility conflicts.
There is no entry fee to participate. Scoring for the competition will involve each participant being given 15 penalty kicks. Points will be awarded depending upon the area of the scoring zones through which the ball passes. Normal rules of soccer penalty kicks apply for all levels of competition.
