WF students reap rewards of good grades
Some West Fargo High School students recently discovered perks for getting their grades higher: ice cream and limo rides.
Six STRETCH Award recipients were honored Friday, Feb. 19, with a limo ride to Space Aliens restaurant followed by ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery. Each eatery donated food to the students and Fargo Xtreme Limousine donated the transportation.
The STRETCH Award recognizes the top two students in each grade with the greatest increase in grade point average from first quarter to second, said Kelley Scheid, co-advisor for the Renaissance Club.
The STRETCH Award is a bi-annual program. Last week's recipients were the first for the award, and were: Salwa Mohamed (soph.), Haley Johnson (soph.), Tanner Moerke (jr.), Jasmine Schafer (jr.), Kenneth Miller (sr.), and Lucas Byzewski (sr.).
The Renaissance Club is a program designed to celebrate and reward student achievement and character through the partnerships built among administrators, faculty, staff, parents and local businesses, Scheid said.
